Help a Horse’s Journey to Recovery

Livestock Equipment Canada is proud to support Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue – where the whispers of horses in need are heard. Together, we CAN make a difference, ONE horse at a time.

We recently had the opportunity to visit Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue in Hagersville, Ontario – run by Dave and Brenda Thompson, and an army of volunteers.  To say the least, it was a gut-wrenching experience. Their goal and hope is for every rescued horse to recover from their ordeal, leave WHHR, and move on to a loving forever home. They have many success stories, and many sad stories.

Many of the horses they rescue are near death, both physically and spiritually; starvation, skin and hoof issues, and a complete loss of trust of humans are all too common. Thankfully, there’s people like Dave and Brenda committed to these majestic creatures and their journey to recovery. Not just physical recovery, but mentally too. Once a horses physical condition has improved, they concentrate on healing the emotional wounds.

WHHR has rescued over 250 horses, and found new forever homes for over 150. Many of the rescued horses that are now well enough to live in the herd are awaiting their new forever homes. Could that be you?

Not everyone can adopt a(nother) horse, but anyone can help through sponsorship, donations, or volunteering. Livestock Equipment Canada will donate $5 for every gate sold to this amazing registered charity. It’s our way of supporting the second chance WHHR gives to these horses.

Summer series starts NOW!

Our MANE man (Spartan) isn’t so MANE anymore 🙁   …  Moving up to higher divisions forced his long flowing mane to be CHOPPED. Don’t worry big guy, everyone still thinks your handsome.

The first summer show at Meadowlark Stables was very rewarding. Spartan, placing very well in 2 divisions with 1 first, 2 seconds, 3 thirds a fourth and a sixth along with division champion ribbon gave Cadence a good start to this series.

We have decided to ride in 2 summer series shows at the 2′ 3″ and 2′ 6″ height, then if all goes well move up to the 3′ level for the winter series next year. It is going to be interesting to see how far this team will go.
